Some of our most rewarding winter/spring flowers are middle weights: medium height plants up to about 60cm tall. One of the classics of this group is the calendula or pot marigold. Bushy plants are topped with large often fluffy double daisy blooms.

Cheiranthus, better known as wallflower, is an old fashioned favorite for beautiful fragrant winter cut flowers. They prefer an average to good, well drained, limy soil in a sunny spot sheltered from wind. Given these conditions the wallflower will produce masses of single and double spikes of flowers in lovely warm shades all winter and spring.
